Tokyo, Japan - September 3rd, 2008 - Antenna House Inc., with corporate headquarters in Tokyo, is very pleased to announce the immediate availability of the Preview Version of Antenna House Formatter V5.0 with support for formatting HTML and XML into print and PDF using CSS3.
Antenna House Formatter V5.0 supports page layouts specified using either CSS3 (Cascading Style Sheets Level 3 under development by the W3C) “or” XSL-FO (Extensible Stylesheet Language - Formatting Objects) for formatting documents for paged media, PDF and print.
With the Preview Version users can gain a better understanding of Version 5's power and capabilities, especially in the area of CSS support. The Preview Version also gives users the ability to test the concept of CSS based formatting. The official release date will be announced as soon as available.
XSL-FO has long been recognized as the standard for formatting XML for print and PDF and CSS as the standard for displaying HTML on the web. The missing piece for web developers has always been how to go easily from web/HTML to print and PDF with properly formatted pages and documents. V5.0 is the answer.
Building on the wide use of CSS and the strengths of the CSS3 specification Antenna House Formatter V5.0 has added the capability that now enables web designers to use CSS to add print and PDF output to their systems by using all the features and functionality that Antenna House has developed during the past 8 years as the supplier of the most powerful XSL-FO formatting software available.
Antenna House XSL Formatter, based on the W3C Recommendation for XSL-FO, has long been recognized as the most powerful and proven standards based formatting software available and is used worldwide in demanding applications where the need is to format XML into documents. A small number of Antenna House Formatter’s powerful formatting functions currently available with the V4.3 have not yet been implemented with V5.0. They will be implemented in the near future and when available an email will be sent out. The Preview Version will work until February 28, 2009. Please check the Antenna House website for other restrictions and updates on V5.0.
